Allegedly dognapped pooch Sonic returned to owners in Perth


An allegedly pilfered therapy dog has been reunited with his owners after he was found in a home south of Perth, with two women due to face court over his theft.

Sonic, the two-year-old blue brindle French bulldog, was found on Tuesday at a unit in Meadow Springs, about 80km south of his home in the Perth suburb of Innaloo.

WA Police arrested two women, aged 39 and 46, and charged them with aggravated home burglary and stealing.

Police allege the pair broke into Sonic’s home about 10.45am on Monday and stole the unsuspecting pup, worth $5000, as well as a number of other items.

The 46-year-old Northbridge woman was also charged with breaching bail and possessing a prohibited drug.

She is due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, while the 39-year-old will face court on February 9.

Police said Sonic was located safe and well and has been reunited with his owners, including a 12-year-old boy.
