Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona unrecognisable after eyebrow lift

Late 90s pop star Kerry Katona from girl group Atomic Kitten has stunned fans with a dramatic eyebrow lift at the age of 43.

Katona was spotted outside Liverpool’s Pall Mall Medical Centre with stitches at the edge up her uplifted brows, seemingly almost unable to open her eyes, which looked bruised and swollen.

With her hair in a high ponytail, wearing a black top under white coat, and carrying a Waitrose bag, she looked barely recognisable as she emerged from the medical centre.

Katona left Atomic Kitten before the release of its biggest single, Whole Again.

But she has remained in the UK headlines for 20 years due to her high-profile marriages and appearances in a slew of reality TV shows.

The celebrity opened up on Instagram last November about her decision to get cosmetic surgery.

“Right, so I’ve come to the conclusion I’m going to get an eye lift,” she said.

“I am, watch this.

“They’re so heavy they’re hanging over my eyes.

“Why not, I’m 43, I’m entitled.”

But in a follow-up interview with OK!, she admitted she was feeling nervous about the procedure.

“I’m s****ing myself,” she said.

“I’m really nervous, but I’m looking forward to having it done.

“I’m going to Pall Mall Medical and they’ve been really great, so it’s exciting.

“I think the recovery period is 10 days and I won’t be able to drive during that time.”

Katona has lead a complicated, sometimes heartbreaking life in the spotlight since rising to fame with Atomic Kitten.

Her career began as a lap dancer and topless model before she joined the girl group in 1998.

A year later, she was replaced by Natasha Hamilton, and in 2001 the band had a mega-hit with Whole Again.

Katona then moved into hosting or appearing in reality TV shows, including shows about her own life that explored her bipolar disorder and stints in rehab for alcohol and cocaine abuse.

After her three-year marriage to Westlife star Brian McFadden broke down in 2004, she married taxi driver Mark Croft in 2007, but they divorced in 2011.

In 2007, Katona, Croft and their daughter Heidi were held hostage as three men entered their home and stole their car and other valuables.

Although they were physically unharmed, Katona was held at knife point during the ordeal.

Her third marriage was to former rugby player George Kay in 2014, but a year later they separated, with Katona claiming he had physically abused her.

Kay died on July 5, 2019, from a drug overdose.

Money worries have also plagued the star, who has twice filed for bankruptcy.

She has more than 831,000 followers on Instagram, where she publicises her own fashion line, Kerry Boutique, posts fitness videos and promotes her OnlyFans account.

After excitedly making the announcement that she was contemplating a brow lift, some of her social media followers begged her not to “ruin her face”.

“If it’s not broke, don’t fix it,” one fan wrote.

“You look good as you are, don’t mess up your features Kerry.

“I’ve seen too many women with messed up faces.

“You look fab without it!”

“Way too young to have anything done,” wrote another.

“Beautiful as you are.”
