Aussie dad’s double life: ‘I’ve been keeping this secret from my wife for 15 years’

A married man has taken to the radio airwaves to reveal his ‘double life’ as a cross dresser — and he says his wife of 15 years has no idea of his proclivities.

The Adelaide dad says he has been dressing up as his alter ego “Candice” behind closed doors, all while juggling his day-to-day life with his wife and kids.

He began dressing in women’s clothing when he tried on his then-girlfriend’s lingerie.

“I started trying on my girlfriend’s bra and underwear and thought it would be something exciting to do at the time,” he told Bec & Soda on 107.1 SAFM breakfast show.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got hooked ever since.

“I explored it deeper, waxing and shaving, and buying dresses, and makeup and wigs, becoming Candice and looking full feminine.”

During the radio segment, called Secrets of the Suburbs, the anonymous man shared details about his cross dressing via a voice decoder, in the hope of keeping his identity under wraps.

The dad confessed he would “rather choose to take the life of his alter ego than continue their day-to-day married life with kids”.

He explained how he had managed to balance both lifestyles and where he would go in Adelaide dressed as Candice.

“I usually try to do this when I get the opportunity to go out after catching up with friends at an event,” he said.

“I take all my stuff with me, and I will go and get changed and do my makeup and be ‘Candice’ for a few hours or half the day.”

Bec asked the father where he kept all his outfits when he was not being Candice.

“I usually hide it at a friend’s house, at the workplace in a locker, or in the shed,” he said.

He said he managed to be Candice “once every few weeks” and that his wife had “no clue”.

Opening up about his alter ego, the dad said dressing as Candice always made him feel “exciting”.

“It makes me feel like I can be relaxed, no worries, no stress, and I can be someone different,” he explained.

Soda asked the man whether he had ever cheated on his wife when he was Candice, to which he replied: “Yes,” adding that it was men he chose “to hook up with”.

The caller said his double life wasn’t without its stressful moments.

“I have been living with Candice for about 15 years. You’ve got this secret which you know you are keeping from your wife,” he said.

“She would be completely shocked and angry. She’s very conservative.

“I have worked out how to separate both lifestyles from each other.”

In a savage swipe, the man admitted that Candice’s dress sense was better than that of his wife’s.
