Aussie golf superstar Cam Smith ties the knot with Shanel Naoum after whirlwind engagement

Australian golf superstar Cam Smith celebrated the perfect end to 2023 by marrying Shanel Naoum in a beautiful ceremony in Brisbane.

The couple married at the Cathedral of St Stephen on Saturday night in front of 150 friends and family.

Smith had yet to post any photos of the big day on his social media accounts, but his LIV Golf team, Ripper GC, posted a couple of snaps congratulating the pair.

“Congrats Cam & Shanell! Our Captain got married over the festive period and we’re delighted for the happy couple!” they wrote.

Any thought that Smith would trim his iconic mullet for the special occasion were immediately put to bed.

“Since he’s grown the mullet, it’s become his good luck charm, so there was no way he was cutting it off on the most special day of his life, and Shanel loves it,” one close friend told News Corp.

After the ceremony, the party continued at the Rivershed at Howard Smith Wharves.

Smith keeps his private life very much out of the public eye.

News of his engagement only surfaced in December after photos of the couple revealed Naoum’s sizeable engagement ring.

It was reported that Smith popped the question in November, meaning it was a very short engagement period for the pair.

Naoum is a chiropractor in Florida where the two live and has been spotted with Smith at various tournaments.

Given their desire for privacy, it’s unclear when they first got together but they were pictured together after Smith won the 2022 Players Championship in March.

Smith is one of Australia’s highest-paid athletes.

After establishing himself as one of the best golfers in the world, Smith joined the LIV Golf League on a reported US$140 million contract.

He won two LIV Golf events in 2023 to finish second overall behind American Talor Gooch and pocketed a massive US$25 million in prize money.

Smith owns properties in Brisbane and Florida and it’s believed the newlyweds will split time between their two homes.
