Best end of season sales 2024: These are the clothing items on my wishlist – and they’re all discounted

I’ve always been a big lover of prints and colour when it comes to the clothes I choose to buy.

But as soon as the clock struck midnight on December 31 and 2024 began, I decided that this would be the year that I invested in more high quality basics and corporate-appropriate outfits, particularly given I’m in an office most of the time.

And so began an endless quest to find the perfect structured T-shirts, a sturdy black belt to tie a look together and form fitting jeans that work from day to night.

The end of season sales are stretching into January so I’m taking full advantage of the discounts still on offer to compile my current wishlist.

Want to see what’s on my radar? These are the top picks:

UNIQLO 3D Knit 100% Cashmere Crew Neck Sweater. Credit: UNIQLO

1. UNIQLO 3D Knit 100% Cashmere Crew Neck Sweater, $129.90 down from $169.90

Look, I know it’s still summer but if you want to get ahead on your winter planning I can’t recommend a cashmere sweater enough.

Knitted pieces can get itchy if they’re made from acrylic or woollen fibres but cashmere never fails to feel warm and cosy, year-round.

This sweater is an absolute steal on sale at the moment and I’m particularly taken by the red shade.

Plenty of my basic T-shirts come from UNIQLO and rightfully so, the entire shop has nailed the art of layering basics.

2. COS Ribbed Tank Top, $29

COS will hardly ever put on a sale for its customers but what it does well is pricing reasonably so you don’t feel like you need to take out a loan to afford a simple pair of trousers.

These ribbed tank tops in an assortment of colours are the perfect layering piece and at $29 they’re an absolute steal.

They’re available in sizes extra small all the way up to large and they’re a somewhat oversized fit made out of organic cotton.

I’ll be wearing them tucked into jeans and long wrap skirts.

3. Viktoria and Woods Dante Loafer, $299 down from $550

Loafers are going to be the shoe of the season and I made the call on the first week of January in a separate article. Mark my words.

So when I spotted this pair of chocolate brown leather ones in the Viktoria and Woods sale I couldn’t help but double take.

They’re “chunky” and just the right amount of masculine without feeling like you’re walking around with clogs on.

Paired with a trench coat you’ll be ready to seize the day entirely.

4. Camilla and Marc Petra Mini Dress, $550

Sometimes you just need a statement dress to wear to the office (or even outside of it) and for me this C&M dress is that to a T.

It cinches in at the waist to produce an ultra-flattering silhouette and the V-neck is subtly sexy.

It could be worn all year round if you pair it with a matching blazer and sandals, or dress it up with a heel.

Sadly it’s not currently on sale but I’m still thinking about biting the bullet all the same.

Billini Kenya Shoulder Bag. Credit: Billini

5. Billini Kenya Shoulder Bag, $109.95

When I think of the brand Billini I often associate it with shoes but I’d be remiss for forgetting about its selection of handbags.

This particular shoulder bag is super on trend but without breaking the bank and it’s large enough to fit in all of your essentials.

I actually spotted someone on social media touting the black colourway of this bag around and I almost mistook it for a designer purse.

Dickies 874 Mini Skirt in Dark Denim at General Pants. Credit: General Pants

6. Dickies 874 Mini Skirt in Dark Denim at General Pants, $45.50 down from $89.99

Looking for a mini skirt but don’t want it to be denim? This one from Dickies is currently on sale at General Pants and it’s ticking all the right boxes.

Short but not too short, it could be paired with a cropped white T-shirt or have a knit tucked into it on cooler evenings.

I can’t say enough good things about incorporating navy into your capsule collection, it just breaks up the grey, black and white.

Meshki Leila Satin Corset Maxi Dress. Credit: Meshki

7. Meshki Leila Satin Corset Maxi Dress, $219

No one does dresses like Meshki does.

I’m a 2025 bride so I’m stockpiling white dresses for all of the formal occasions coming up in my calendar and this maxi dress is truly breathtaking.

The basque waistline is truly trending at the moment and for a girl with a shorter torso (read: me) this is the perfect shape to elongate my figure.

Everlane The Alpaca V-Neck Vest. Credit: Everlane

8. Everlane The Alpaca V-Neck Vest, $82 down from $164

I brought you a cashmere sweater to begin with and I’m finishing my wishlist with this epic vest version in a similar deliciously soft fabric.

Made from a blend of alpaca, recycled nylon and merino wool, this timeless sweater vest offers a cool, relaxed fit with ribbed detailing and roomier armholes — making it perfect for layering.

I’d pair this with a button down top and for a casual yet chic trip into the office or just leave it as is for brunch on the weekend.
