Billy Brownless steps out with new woman at Australian Open just days after on-air show with Garry Lyon

Life continues to move forward for popular AFL legend Billy Brownless who was seen at the Australian Open on Monday night with a new woman.

Only 12 months ago Brownless stepped out with former girlfriend, Justine, the first woman he had been publicly linked to since his relationship with his wife, Nicky Brownless, ended in a painful scenario eight years ago.

Nicky Brownless has now just become engaged to another AFL great in Garry Lyon.

Billy and former Melbourne captain, Lyon, had been longtime friends and colleagues on radio and TV until the latter’s romantic relationship with Nicky became public.

She had been married to Billy for 18 years (the couple have four children together) when news of her relationship with Lyon rocked the football media landscape.

While Brownless was devastated at the time, he has since patched things up with Nicky and Lyon.

Only days ago Brownless appeared on-air with Lyon, their first media appearance together in a long time … and he’s moving on after his relationship with Justine ended a few months ago.

Brownless said his new “friend” was called Lizzie and she “loves tennis”.

While Lizzie revealed that she became friends with Billy a few years ago, and they had “recently rekindled” their friendship.

The couple seemingly had a wow of time at the Piper-Heidsieck event at the Australian Open and enjoyed the fourth-round match between Carlos Alcaraz and Miomir Kecmanovic.

Brownless and Lizzie certainly looked happy together, enjoying champagne and each other’s company, while cuddling up close to each other for photos.

Lizzie is also a mother of four.

Meanwhile, Nicky Brownless recently confirmed she was ready to marry again.

“The best surprise,’’ she wrote, revealing the engagement news to Lyon on Instagram.

A photo of the happy couple showed them hugging on their Mornington Peninsula property in the middle of a lit-up love heart. The initials N and G sat on the top of the love heart.

Lyon and Nicky recently returned from a New York getaway and upon their return Nicky was spotted with a large engagement ring on her finger.

The pending wedding seems to have Billy’s blessing, marking a big turnaround for all parties involved.

In March of 2016, just a month after finding out about the relationship Lyon was having with his ex-wife, Brownless opened up in a teary interview on The Footy Show.

“I couldn’t believe it. I found out three or four months ago,” Brownless said at the time.

“I asked Garry and Nicky earlier on what was going on and they said they were just good friends. That’s what hurts the most.

“By law, it’s legal. Morally, it’s wrong. We all know our rights and wrongs.”

The famous friendship ended — for the time being — there and then, with Brownless saying “a good mate wouldn’t do that”.
