Driver killed as car hits fence in Yorke Peninsula


A driver has been killed when his car left a York Peninsula road and crashed into a fence on Wednesday afternoon.

The 55-year-old East Moonta man sustained fatal injuries in the crash on Duncan St, East Moonta, just after 3pm.

Duncan St is an unsealed road.

Police said the driver, who was sole occupant of the car, died at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours as SA Police began investigating what may have caused the crash.

It was the first life lost on the state’s roads in 2024.
