Taking to social media, the 47-year-old Legally Blonde star shared her recipe for the snow drink with her followers, but many were a little grossed out by the idea.

The video, which has been viewed more than 4.8 million times, shows Witherspoon creating the concoction with fresh, unfiltered snow, cold brew coffee, and a big dollop of salted caramel syrup and chocolate sauce.

“OK, so we had a ton of snow in the past few days, so we decided to make a recipe,” Witherspoon says, as she scoops out giant coffee mugs full of snow.

“Mmmm, that’s sooo good,” Witherspoon adds as she spoons some of the concoction into her mouth.

But it seems not all of her fans were on board with the idea.

“No no no … snow is not made to eat … u can get seriously sick,” one follower wrote in the comments.

“Fallen snow can be very dirty from the air and wind,” added another, but then gave some qualified support for the concept.

“But who cares, you only live once.

“I thought eating snow was dangerous to our health?” asked another.

“What if birds pooped in that snow?” said a third.

Another was a bit grossed out that the snow had been scraped off a car.

“Did it come with that yummy car taste?” one wondered.

Others had less of an issue.

“So nobody grew up eating snow cream?” one person asked.

“Man, y’all missing out!”

“Haven’t you ever heard of the phrase ‘pure as the driven snow?’” wrote another.

“It’s clean, pure, unsullied! Who are we to question Shakespeare?!”

The kerfuffle over Witherspoon’s snow drink prompted the actress to post a series of follow-up videos.

She expressed her shock that there’d been a backlash.

“So, there’s so many people on here saying snow is dirty, so we took snow from the backyard and we microwaved it and it’s CLEAR!” she said in one video, holding up a jar of clear liquid.

“Is this bad? Am I not supposed to eat snow?

“We’re sort of in the category of ‘you only live once,’ and it snows maybe once a year here!

“I don’t know, also, I wanna say something — it was DELICIOUS, it was so good.”

In a final video, Witherspoon addressed suggestions that the snow should have been filtered before it was consumed.

“OK, so, growing up, we didn’t drink filtered water, we drank tap water, we’d actually put our mouths on the tap,” she said, laughing.

“And sometimes in the summer when it was hot, we drank out of the hose — like, we’d put our mouth on the hose!

“So what you’re saying to me is that I have the filter the snow before I drink it?

“I just can’t!”, she concluded, shaking her head.

“Filtered snow, I don’t know how to do that!”

This time around, fans logged on to say they got where she was coming from.

“Gen X drank from hoses and ran in sprinklers. We survived,” one fan wrote.

“My Canadian self is laughing at the comments,” said another.

“We’ve been eating snow since we could crawl. We’re good.”

“We had one rule — don’t eat the yellow snow,” a third noted.

“This is not a big deal.”

Other followers were too busy punning on the star’s name to care too much about the do’s and don’ts.

“I have only one question,” one fan wrote.

“Did she eat the snow with her fork or Witherspoon??”
