Stunning detail in Margot’s Golden Globes frock

A stunning detail in Margot Robbie’s Golden Globes outfit for 2024 has left Barbie fans in a swoon.

Robbie wowed fans during the promotional tour for the Greta Gerwig-directed film by wearing replicas of original Barbie outfits from the Mattel doll’s decades-long catalogue of fabulous fashion.

And now it’s been revealed that her Golden Globes outfit is a precise replica of a “Superstar Barbie” doll from 1977.

The dress is virtually the same design, right down to the tulle feather boa.

The only major differences are that Robbie is not wearing the pendant necklace, and her hair isn’t pinned back in the style of the 1977 doll.

When movie website IMDB.com posted a side-by-side picture of the actress and the doll, fans went wild.

“My favourite Barbie ever!” one fan wrote.

“I only had hand-me-downs from my sisters before my eldest sister took me for a salon haircut and bought me a new Barbie.

“Best day of my eight-year-old life!!!”

“I had that Barbie growing up. Margo looks amazing!” said another.

“They couldn’t have cast a better person,” wrote a third.

Robbie’s promotional outfits for Barbie ahead of the film’s premiere were curated by stylist Andrew Mukamal.

Everything she wore on the red carpet was inspired by an original Barbie outfit, but as befits a modern Hollywood star, Robbie donned luxury designers such as Chanel, Prada and Manolo Blahnik to recreate the looks.

“Barbie is truly iconic, so when asked to provide shoes for the wonderful Margot Robbie, whom I adore, I wanted to update some of my most successful designs that have been in my collections for decades, with a Barbie twist of course,” Blahnik told Harper’s Bazaar.

“Pink is one of my absolute favourite colours — from cerise to powder pink, I love them all — and so it has been a joy to reimagine these styles in a host of pink hues.”

Barbie is nominated for nine Golden Globes, including for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy and the new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award.

The film’s lead Margot Robbie nabbed a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and her co-star Ryan Gosling received a nod for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.
