Toll Transport charged after worker maimed in forklift incident at Perth Airport
Toll Transport faces penalties of up to $2 million after a Perth worker was maimed on the company’s Perth Airport premises.
The man was kneeling on the ground to complete a task when his leg was run over by a reversing forklift.
He had been placing stickers on the concrete floor to mark out delivery bays for various mine sites when the incident occurred in January 2021.

“While the worker was bending over to place the stickers, a forklift reversed into him, driving over his left foot and right leg and resulting in serious and permanent injuries,” WorkSafe said on Wednesday.
The company was charged with failing to provide and maintain a safe workplace and, by that failure, causing serious harm to an employee.
It was also charged with failing to ensure that the movement and speed of vehicles and plant — or, machinery and equipment, including forklifts — at the workplace were managed in a way that minimised risk to pedestrians.
“WorkSafe will contend that Toll did not implement practical measures to keep employees safe, resulting in an unsafe working environment and serious harm to one of its employees,” it said.
The maximum penalty for the main charge is a fine of $2 million.
The first mention will take place in the Perth Magistrates Court on February 16.
