Woman and young boy killed after car veers off road and crashes in Echuca, Victoria


Two people have died, including an 11-year-old boy, following a single-vehicle crash in Echuca, Victoria.

Police say a car was travelling along the Murray Valley Hwy at about 12.30pm on Sunday when it veered off the road and hit a tree near Mt Terrick Rd.

The car, which had three people inside, then caught fire.

A 26-year-old woman, who was a passenger inside the car, was killed instantly.

An 11-year-old boy was treated at the scene, but later died as a result of his injuries.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, was airlifted to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

He is assisting police with their investigation into the crash.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined at this stage,” police said in a statement.
