Best Dyson Airwrap colourway on the market: The ceramic pop style becomes a cult favourite for Australian hair stylists

Dyson unveiled its “ceramic pop” colourway to the Australian market in October last year.

From October 6, shoppers were able to purchase both the signature Airwrap curling, straightening and drying hair device and the Supersonic hairdryer in this art-inspired pastel look.

This bold combination of colours intertwines hues of blush pink, topaz and what Dyson is calling “ceramic patina” in playful proportions inspired by the colour scheme of Dyson’s first manufactured machine – the G-Force vacuum cleaner – which was sold in Japan in the 1980s.

“Our technologies are pioneering and this colourway takes inspiration from an early example of our innovative use of colour. We design and engineer our colours, materials and finishes to enhance the technology and overall product experience,” said Vice-President of Dyson RDD Hair Care Emma Sheldon.

Materials and finishes, just like the machines themselves, undergo rigorous testing such as rub tests and scratch resistance tests to ensure the finishes withstand the demands of daily use and meet the high expectations of owners.

This range has a “ceramic” finish, the result of precision-applied satin paint topcoats.

Dry to the touch, the end result was achieved through many rounds of experimentation – designed to evoke the silky-smooth finish of unglazed ceramic.

The G-Force vacuum cleaner that the new colourway is inspired by had breakthrough cyclonic technology and a transparent bin, packaged in an asymmetrical form factor in pink and lilac.

The Supersonic can be picked up on Dyson’s website for $649 and the Airwrap will set you back $949.

I’ve tested out the Ceramic Pop Airwrap and, complete with the extra long curling barrels, found it much faster to use than my older Dyson colourway.

I’m more than happy to display it loudly and proudly in my bedroom for everyone to see as they enter because it’s just so chic.

“This is the cutest colouring yet, well done Dyson,” one woman remarked.

“I already have the Airwrap but this is making me want to get another one,” said a second woman.
