Dog killed in off-leash area in Hamilton Hill, Perth as Cockburn Council investigates

The death of a small dog in an attack at an off-leash area south of Perth has led to a council investigation.

The pet was killed after it was attacked by another dog in Hamilton Hill at Enright Reserve about three weeks ago.

The City of Cockburn confirmed the attack took place and that investigations are ongoing.

“As a result of a dog attack, we understand that one dog died (from) its injuries,” the council said.

“This incident is currently under investigation and, as a result, the city cannot provide any further comment at this time.”

The alarm was raised over social media, along with a call for information from witnesses — with many describing the event “traumatising” and “incredibly sad”.

Cockburn Council says Enright Reserve is being trialled as a dog off-leash area, along with several other large public open spaces, when not in use by sporting groups or by schools.
